Woodens came to the Haiti Children home on September 22, 2011. Though he has a mental disability and does not speak, he understands what is spoken to him and is truly a child with a calm and serious personality. Woodens suffers from sickle cell disease and a disorder of the colon. In July of 2016 his congenital colon disorder was treated and it helped to relieve him of some suffering. Woodens loves to be in the spotlight and is always full of joy. He enjoys being around and playing with the other children.
Chillie’s life was full of struggle and suffering until she came to the Haiti Children home on March 15, 2018. She had lived in a little straw house at the mercy of her abusive grandfather. The effects of mistreatment and malnourishment left Chillie physically disable, crying relentlessly day after day, without clothes, scared and alone in the dirt and darkness. Despite having paralysis in her lower limbs, Chillie works tirelessly in therapy and is starting to make some improvement.
Geraldy was abandoned by his biological parents at two years old. At that time he came to the Haiti Children home. Geraldy has suffered from many challenges since birth, including a congenital malformation and aplasticity (absence of the patella/kneecap and lower limbs). In therapy Geraldy is motivated and works hard to make progress. Geraldy is full of curiosity and has a love for learning. He never considers his disability as an obstacle and loves to be a part of the team.
